Storage Tips
- Build Large Chests early. 60 slots for 40 Wood + 10 Iron is the best value. Build 4-6 as soon as you can.
- Place chests near activity areas. Fish chest near pier, crop chest near garden. Saves running back and forth.
- Weekly purge. Every Sunday, sell items you have 20+ of (except NPC gift favorites). Prevents overflow.
- Keep 5-7 of each NPC favorite. Stock gift items in a dedicated chest. Never sell below your reserve.
- Use Display Cabinet for home evaluation items. Counts as decoration AND stores items — double value.
- Do not hoard Common fish or bugs. Sell or cook them immediately. They have low value and waste slots.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I expand my backpack in Heartopia?
Your backpack expands automatically with D.G. level progression. It starts at 20 slots (Level 1) and grows to 52+ slots by Level 20. There is no manual upgrade — just level up through daily activities and quests.
What is the best storage furniture in Heartopia?
The Large Chest (60 slots) is the best value at 40 Wood + 10 Iron. Build 4-6 of them for 240-360 total slots. Wooden Chests (40 slots, 20 Wood) are cheaper for early game. Use the Wardrobe for clothing only.
How many storage slots can I have total?
With a Level 20 backpack (52 slots) + 6 Large Chests (360 slots) + Wardrobe (20 outfit slots) = 432+ total slots. Add Bookshelves and Display Cabinets for even more. There is no hard cap on home storage furniture.
What is the Community Warehouse in Heartopia?
The Community Warehouse is shared town storage accessible from the central plaza. It is useful for items you want to share with friends or access from anywhere in town without returning home.
How should I organize my storage?
Use one chest per category: Crops & Seeds, Fish & Bait, Cooking Ingredients, Crafting Materials, Furniture & Decor, Seasonal items. Place each chest near the relevant activity area (garden chest near garden, fish chest near pier).
Should I sell or store extra items?
Sell Common items you have 20+ of. Store Rare+ materials, NPC gift favorites (5-7 each), and seasonal items. Use the Profit Calculator to check if cooking an item is more valuable than storing it raw.
