Heartopia Fishing Guide: Every Fish Location, Best Times & Weather

Fishing is one of the most profitable and relaxing activities in Heartopia. This guide covers every fishing location, what you can catch, when to fish for rare species, and how to maximize your fishing income.

Fishing Locations

Central Lake

The starting fishing spot. Available from Day 1. Contains Common Carp (Any time, 40g), Catfish (Night, 80g), and Bass (Any time, 70g). Best for leveling up fishing skill quickly.

Ocean Shore

Unlocks at Fishing level 3. Home to Sardine (Morning, 30g), Tuna (Clear weather, 150g), Mackerel (Cloudy morning, 100g), Pufferfish (Night, 180g), and Swordfish (Clear afternoon, 350g). The most diverse fishing spot.

River

Available from level 2. Trout (Clear morning, 60g), Salmon (Clear afternoon, 120g), and the valuable Eel (Rainy night, 250g). The river is the best spot when rain is in the forecast.

Onsen Pond

Special location near the hot springs. Koi (Clear morning, 300g) and the legendary Crystal Fish (Aurora night, 800g). Small pond means shorter casting distance but higher value catches.

Mountain Stream

High-altitude fishing spot. Golden Trout (Clear evening, 400g) and Rainbow Fish (Rainy morning, 550g). Requires a hike to reach but offers some of the best non-legendary fish.

Deep Ocean

Endgame fishing location. Anglerfish (Stormy night, 600g), Lunar Jellyfish (Clear night, 500g), and Legendary Whale (Stormy, 800g). All fish here require level 10 and specific conditions.

Weather Impact on Fishing

Weather is the single biggest factor for rare fish availability:

| Weather | Exclusive Fish | Best Location | |---------|---------------|---------------| | Clear | Swordfish, Golden Trout, Koi, Crystal Fish | Ocean Shore, Mountain Stream | | Rainy | Eel, Rainbow Fish | River, Mountain Stream | | Stormy | Anglerfish, Legendary Whale | Deep Ocean | | Aurora | Crystal Fish | Onsen Pond | | Cloudy | Mackerel | Ocean Shore |

Pro tip: Always check the weather forecast before deciding where to fish. Rainy and stormy days are the most valuable because they unlock the rarest fish.

Time of Day Guide

| Time | Best Catches | Strategy | |------|-------------|----------| | Morning | Sardine, Trout, Koi, Rainbow Fish | Start at Onsen Pond for Koi, then River for Trout | | Afternoon | Salmon, Swordfish | Ocean Shore is the best afternoon spot | | Evening | Golden Trout | Mountain Stream only | | Night | Catfish, Pufferfish, Eel, Anglerfish, Crystal Fish | Most rare fish spawn at night — prioritize night sessions |

Rod Upgrades

| Rod | Cost | Benefit | |-----|------|---------| | Basic Rod | Free (tutorial) | Catches Common fish only | | Iron Rod | 500g | Catches up to Uncommon. Faster reel speed. | | Silver Rod | 2,000g | Catches up to Rare. Better bite detection. | | Gold Rod | 8,000g | Catches all fish. Maximum reel speed and bite window. |

Upgrade priority: Iron Rod first (immediate quality of life), then save for Gold Rod (skip Silver if you can afford it).

Fish for Cooking vs Selling Raw

Some fish are worth more cooked:

  • Sardine → Grilled Sardine (180g vs 30g raw) — always cook
  • Fish (generic) → Fish Fillet (200g vs 50g raw) — always cook
  • Legendary fish (800g raw) — sell raw, cooking rarely exceeds 800g

Use the Recipe Finder to check which fish-based recipes are most profitable.

Fishing XP and Leveling

Every catch gives XP regardless of rarity. Common fish give base XP, rare fish give 2-3x. The fastest way to level:

  1. Level 1-5: Spam-fish at Central Lake. Volume matters more than quality.
  2. Level 5-8: Fish at Ocean Shore during optimal weather for mid-tier fish.
  3. Level 8-10: Target Rare+ fish at Mountain Stream and Deep Ocean.

Expected leveling time: 15-20 days of daily 15-minute fishing sessions.

How to apply this update in-game

This article is written for practical execution. Instead of reading and moving on, convert the key points into a short checklist before your next session. Most event and economy mistakes happen when players act from memory and miss timing details, reset windows, or reward conditions.

For better results, pair this post with one guide page and one collection checklist. That gives you a clear plan for objectives, resource usage, and route order in the same session, which is usually the fastest way to turn news into real progression.

  • Extract the three highest-impact actions from this post.
  • Set a time budget so event prep does not consume your full play window.
  • Review the related guide and NPC pages for gift, route, or farming overlap.

Mistakes to avoid after major updates

A common mistake is reacting to update headlines without confirming requirements and timings. That often causes wasted materials, missed event windows, and route changes that slow overall progression.

Keep your first post-update session focused on verification. Confirm reward conditions, test one route, and only then commit your full resource budget. This lowers risk and helps you adapt faster if new balance changes appear.

  • Do not spend rare items before verifying final reward thresholds.
  • Track one control route so you can compare old and new efficiency.
  • Revisit this article after one day to refresh your action plan.
