What Is Birdwatching in Heartopia?

Birdwatching is one of Heartopia's collection systems. Unlike fishing or gardening, it requires no consumable items — just being in the right place at the right time with the right weather. Each of the 25 birds has a unique combination of location, season, time of day, and weather condition that determines when it appears.

The challenge is not mechanical difficulty but planning. Players who check the weather forecast, track which birds they still need, and run efficient multi-stop routes complete their collection much faster than players who wander randomly.

You need the Camera tool (unlocked through early main quests) to log bird sightings. The optional Telescope (Development Level 8) helps spot birds from further away but is not required for any species.

How Birdwatching Spawns Work

Every bird checks four conditions before it appears. All four must be true simultaneously:

Location

You must be in the correct area. Some birds use specific sub-locations like "East Pier" or "Deer Tower".

Season

Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter. Some birds span multiple seasons; 9 birds appear in All Seasons.

Time of Day

Dawn, Morning, Midday, Day, Sunset, or Night. "Day" covers the full daytime window. "All Day" means 24/7.

Weather

Sunny, Rainy, Foggy, Windy, Snowy, or Rainbow. "Any" means weather does not matter for that bird.

Seasonal Route Planner

Each season has unique birds that cannot be found at other times. Use these pre-planned routes to hit every seasonal target in a single efficient run.

ðŸŒļ

Spring

5 unique birds
Target birds:

Paradise Peacock, Eastern Bluebird, Eurasian Chaffinch, Pink-Necked Green Pigeon, White Swan

Route:

Royal Garden (Dawn) → Suburbs → Flower Fields → Lakes

Spring unlocks the most Uncommon birds. Start at Royal Garden before 8:00 AM for Paradise Peacock, then sweep south through Suburbs and Flower Fields. Finish at Lakes for White Swan on foggy mornings.

☀ïļ

Summer

5 unique birds
Target birds:

Rainbow Parrot, Pink Flamingo, Greater Flamingo, Ruddy Shelduck, Pied Imperial Pigeon

Route:

Tropical Garden (Morning) → Wetlands (Sunset) → Lakes & Ponds → Fishing Village

Summer has the most Epic+ birds. Rainbow Parrot only appears during Rainbow weather — check forecast daily. Run Tropical Garden first, then plan Wetlands for sunset. Flamingos are easiest Summer catches.

🍂

Autumn

4 unique birds
Target birds:

Wild Turkey, Eurasian Wren, Eurasian Nuthatch, White Swan

Route:

Forests (Morning) → Fishing Village → Lakes

Autumn is quieter but efficient. Wild Turkey and Eurasian Wren share Forest spawns. Hit Fishing Village for Eurasian Nuthatch, then Lakes for White Swan. Compact route with minimal travel.

❄ïļ

Winter

3 unique birds
Target birds:

Snowy Owl, Little Penguin, Great Tit

Route:

Mountain Peak (Night/Dawn) → Beaches (Dawn) → Onsen Mountain

Winter has 2 of the 3 Legendary birds but requires Snowy weather. Check weather forecast and plan Mountain Peak visits on snowy nights. Little Penguin needs snowy dawn at Beaches — combine with Snowy Owl runs.

Worked Example: 4-Week Completion Plan

A player starting birdwatching from zero can realistically complete all 25 birds in 4-6 weeks. Here is a practical week-by-week plan assuming you play 30-60 minutes daily.

Week 1|Common + Year-Round~12 birds

Log Sparrow, Mallard Duck, Double-Barred Finch, and Eurasian Wren first (easy guaranteed catches). Then pick up the year-round birds: Golden Eagle (sunny midday), European Shag (rainy coast), Wonga Pigeon (forests), Cinnamon Ground Dove (fishing village), Common Kestrel (windy days), Bearded Reedling (rainy Onsen Mountain).

Week 2|Current Season Targets~16-18 birds

Focus on whichever season is active. Run the matching seasonal route daily. Most seasonal Uncommon and Rare birds appear within 3-5 attempts if you hit the right time and weather windows.

Week 3|Weather-Dependent Targets~20-22 birds

Start actively watching the weather forecast for specific conditions: Foggy (White Swan), Windy (Common Kestrel if missed), Rainbow (Rainbow Parrot in Summer). Plan trips around weather, not location.

Week 4+|Legendary Cleanup25/25

Remaining birds are usually the Legendary trio. Snowy Owl needs Winter + Night + Snowy (the rarest combo). Rainbow Parrot needs Summer + Rainbow. Be patient and check daily forecasts. These last birds may take 1-2 weeks of weather watching.

Pro Tips for Faster Completion

1

Track weather forecasts daily

Rainbow Parrot (Rainbow), Snowy Owl (Snowy), and White Swan (Foggy) all need specific weather. Checking the forecast before you plan your route saves wasted trips.

2

Prioritize time-limited windows

Dawn birds (Paradise Peacock, Little Penguin) have narrow 2-hour windows. Schedule these first, then fill remaining time with All Day birds.

3

Use seasonal transitions

Some birds overlap seasons (Pink-Necked Green Pigeon: Spring/Summer, White Swan: Spring/Autumn). Target these during transition periods to double your chances.

4

Combine with other activities

Fishing Village covers 4 birds. Combine birdwatching trips with fishing runs to maximize session value. Lakes overlap with fish and swan spawns.

5

Night visits are rare but valuable

Only Snowy Owl requires a night visit. Plan one dedicated night run during Winter snowy weather rather than checking every night.

6

Complete Common birds first

The 4 Common birds are easy guaranteed entries. Log them early to build momentum and focus remaining effort on weather-dependent Rares and Epics.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many birds are in Heartopia and how do I find them all?

There are 25 bird species in Heartopia across 5 rarity tiers: 3 Legendary, 4 Epic, 5 Rare, 9 Uncommon, and 4 Common. Each bird has specific location, season, time, and weather requirements. Use this guide's seasonal routes to systematically cover all spawn conditions. Most players reach 100% in 4-6 weeks of focused effort.

What is the hardest bird to find in Heartopia?

Rainbow Parrot is the hardest. It only spawns in the Tropical Garden during Summer mornings in Rainbow weather — the rarest weather condition. Snowy Owl is second hardest, requiring Winter night visits during Snowy weather at Mountain Peak. Both need weather-checking patience.

Do birds despawn if I get too close?

Birds in Heartopia do not flee on approach. Once a bird spawns in its designated area during the correct time/weather/season, it remains available until the conditions change. You can approach freely for observation or photography without scaring it away.

Can I find multiple birds in one trip?

Yes. Many locations host multiple species. Fishing Village has 4 different birds across conditions. Forests host 3 species. Lakes host 3. Plan multi-target routes using the seasonal route maps in this guide to catch several birds per session.

What rewards do you get for completing the bird collection?

Completing bird milestones unlocks achievement badges, decorative items for your home, and contribution points toward your Development Level. The full 25/25 completion achievement is one of the rarer badges in the game and grants a unique birdwatching-themed furniture set.

Do I need any special tools for birdwatching?

You need the Camera tool, which unlocks early in the main quest chain. Some players also use the Telescope (unlocked at Development Level 8) for spotting birds from greater distance, but it is not required. No consumable items are needed.

What is the best season to start birdwatching?

Spring and Summer are the best starting seasons. Spring has 5 unique birds with relatively easy conditions (mostly Sunny daytime). Summer adds the most Epic and Legendary targets. Starting in Spring lets you build momentum before tackling Winter's weather-dependent Legendaries.
