Unlock the hobby, grow Grimkin Pumpkins in a Pumpkin Grow Box, then use a Carving Bench to finish a carving. Buying an ordinary Pumpkin for cooking does not complete that chain.
Pumpkin Carving stays available after Night of Divination. The steps below combine the official unlock rules with community gameplay walkthroughs; they are not a logged-in playtest by this site. Official hobby announcement.

STEP 1
Unlock the hobby and collect both tools
Follow the Pumpkin Carving tutorial and collect its required tools. The official alternative is to unlock the hobby with Wishing Stars at Azure’s Fashionwave Hobby Store. Check the unlock status before buying: the hobby and its upgrade ticket are separate shop entries. Official unlock routes.

After unlocking, speak to Azure again and choose the Pumpkin Carving conversation to continue the tutorial. Look for the Pumpkin Grow Box and Carving Bench, then place them at Home with room to interact. Community tool-collection steps.
Ready to continue: the hobby is unlocked and you can interact with both pieces of equipment. A shop purchase alone is not the end of the tutorial.
STEP 2
Grow the carving material
Get Pumpkin Seeds from Blanc. Keep track of the seed item, rather than a harvested cooking Pumpkin.
Interact with the Pumpkin Grow Box and load seeds there. This is the dedicated growing equipment for the hobby.
When the box is ready, harvest its Grimkin Pumpkins. Check the harvested item before heading to the bench.
The official announcement identifies Blanc’s seeds, Azure’s Grow Box, and Grimkin Pumpkins in different colors and sizes. Official growing instructions.
A recipe asking for Pumpkin uses the food ingredient. See the festival recipe guide for the separate cooking route.
STEP 3
Follow the line at the Carving Bench
Interact with the bench and select a harvested Grimkin Pumpkin. In the carving minigame, move the vertical control up and down to keep the moving marker aligned with the guide line. For a first attempt, aim to finish and recognize the result screen. Do not spend a large seed stock chasing a promised star rating: this guide does not turn one player’s sample results into guaranteed odds.
STEP 4
Check the finished item and hobby progress
Confirm that the finished carving is in your inventory, then check the hobby’s proficiency and collection screens. You can place and combine carvings at Home; the official notes also describe collection certification rewards. Official uses and collection rewards.
The October 15 update fixed a bug that sent completed carvings to the backpack without increasing Hobby Proficiency. If the item arrives but progress seems unchanged, confirm the update is installed and compare the counter before and after a completed attempt. Find the step that is blocked
Unlocked, but no tools
Return to Azure and continue the Pumpkin Carving dialogue. Check your furniture inventory before buying anything again.
Seeds will not start a carving
Seeds belong in the Grow Box. Harvest a Grimkin Pumpkin first, then take that item to the Carving Bench.
A Pumpkin is rejected
Read its full item name. A cooking Pumpkin and a Grimkin Pumpkin are different inputs; go back to the dedicated Grow Box.
Progress did not change
Check the October 15 fix above. Record the completed result and the before/after counter if you need to report a remaining issue.
Before you move on
Is Pumpkin Carving only available during Night of Divination?
No. The official announcement says the hobby remains available permanently after the festival. That does not extend the festival’s separate rewards, catalog or ingredient shop windows.
Why will my ordinary Pumpkin not work at the Carving Bench?
Carving uses Grimkin Pumpkins grown in the dedicated Pumpkin Grow Box. Buy Pumpkin Seeds, put them in that box, and harvest the resulting carving material. An ordinary cooking Pumpkin is a different item.
Do I need an upgrade ticket before my first carving?
Start with the unlocked hobby, Grow Box, seeds and Carving Bench. The separately sold Hobby Upgrade Ticket is for later progression; do not confuse it with the initial hobby unlock.
